WHAT IS THE COURSE/UNIVERSITY LIKE |
Excellent, the course is split into clinical and pre-clinical years. 1st and 2nd year are pre clinical and consist of ‘book work.’ Whereas 3rd 4th +5th year you are based entirely in a hospital. The clinical years are probably the best in the country, feel free to check the stats. |

ANY ADVICE ABOUT ACCOMODATION |
Halls is a must in first year!!! Try and buy your own house and let rooms to your mates + so paying the mortgage. Failing that try and let your room from your mate. Letting agencies + private student halls and flats have a reputation for abusing niave students!!! |
|
HOW MUCH ARE YOU SPENDING PER TERM AND ON WHAT? |
A small fortune. My personal view is that once you reach the 3rd year of medicine you’re pretty much sorted to start work in 3 years time and take home over £20,000 after tax. At which point you will have little social life and holidays. So just enjoy yourself and try not to let the cash limit you if possible. Any doctor will tell you a similar tale. You can always pay back debt. |
|
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEPNE JUST ENDING THEIR LOWER SIXTH |
Work your ass off to get good A-level grades. Good grades will get you onto a good course + hence you will get a good job. If you don’t get above AAB it is unlikely you will study medicine. |
|
WHEN AT UNIVERSITY DON’T DO THIS… |
Fail your first year because your mates will mock you |
|
INSTEAD DO THIS… |
Work hard and play hard. Unii is a big social event. Play sports + embrace their associated social lives. Join societies. Just meet as many people as possible. |
